Authentication and fair use

As of Dec 2nd 2025 authentication and API keys are no longer required to access our APIs through opendataapi.dmi.dk .

You can now access all endpoints directly, neither registration, nor API key are needed.

If you previously registered for an API key, you can safely stop using it and call our API’s without authentication. 
However your old API calls with authentication will still work as the API key will just be ignored.

The API is still subject to fair use policies, and we will impose rate limiting if we detect misuse.
